  • About

At Google, we don’t just accept difference — we celebrate it, we support it, and we thrive on it for the benefit of our employees, our products, and our community. Apprentices become part of our mission to build great products for every user, and their different experiences help ensure that our products are as diverse as our users.

Apprenticeships contribute towards the development of digital skills by providing opportunities for work and study. They can serve as part of your journey to a meaningful career. • U.S. Apprenticeships

    About the program

This is an official Registered Apprenticeship Program. Upon completion, apprentices receive a nationally-recognized credential, certified by the U.S. Department of Labor. Google’s Apprenticeship program is approved for VA education benefits. If you’re a Veteran and have been accepted into this apprenticeship, you may be able to use your GI Bill benefit and get tax-free money for books and supplies, as well as a monthly housing allowance (MHA) from the Post-9/11 GI Bill.

This program is a structured learning and development opportunity. Apprentices participate in on-the-job training and related technical instruction, as well as career readiness workshops and opportunities to develop professional skills. Apprentices are paid hourly for their time studying and learning on-the-job, and are required to dedicate 40 hours each week to the program.

    Program Structure

Apprenticeships begin with a three-week virtual onboarding experience, followed by an immersive 6-week bootcamp with Google's apprenticeship partner, Multiverse, to build a foundational understanding of the profession. Apprentices will then join a Google team to train on-the-job, while continuing to engage in track-specific learnings and career workshops throughout the program. Towards the end of the program, apprentices receive holistic career readiness support and will have the time and space to prepare for their next endeavor.

A typical week as an apprentice follows a hybrid structure, as they work towards completing all of the required competencies. Apprentices may dedicate 1–2 days to virtual lessons with Multiverse, such as spotlighting a particular concept or participating in a professional development workshop. They spend their remaining days gaining practical experience through different projects on their Google team. This ensures apprentices learn critical industry principles while also applying them to real-world projects. Apprentices are immersed into the culture at Google in various ways. They can attend local site and team-wide meetings and events, network with Googlers from all over the company, and build community through day-to-day interactions with their apprentice cohort.

    Important information

The application window will be open from May 2–16, 2022. Please keep checking the Careers Page for updates, as apprenticeship qualifications for each track will be posted in advance.

    Applying to the U.S. program

In addition to the below, please be sure to review the general FAQs tab of this website before applying.

Q: How do I know if a particular track is available in one of the listed Google offices above? Can I apply to more than one? Once the application is active, please check the job description link to see which Google sites offer the apprenticeship track you are interested in.

We recommend applying to the apprenticeship tracks that align best with your background and interests, as your applications will be considered one at a time. As you’re browsing, keep in mind that you can apply for up to three roles every 30 days.

Will completing a Google Career Certificate before I apply or before the program starts increase my chances of getting hired for the apprenticeship? We strongly recommend that you do not complete the Google Career Certificate in advance. The Data Analytics, Information Technology, Project Management, and UX Design apprenticeship tracks include the Google Career Certificate as part of the program training. If you have completed a Certificate, please list this on your resume and let your recruiter know.

I do not have college experience. Can I still apply? Yes, you are welcome to apply. No college experience is necessary for our apprenticeships.

I already have a Bachelor's degree in the role that I am applying for. Should I apply? Since ideal apprenticeship candidates would have fewer than 12 months' experience in their field of interest, students currently enrolled in, or who have graduated from, a bachelor's degree program in the same field as the apprenticeship would not be eligible. However, you may apply if your field of study differs from the apprenticeship field you’re applying to, and if you have fewer than 12 months' practical experience in it.

If you're enrolled in or have graduated from an associate's degree program, you're welcome to apply if you have fewer than 6 months' practical experience in that same field.

  • FAQs

Why is Google offering apprenticeships? Apprenticeships can create equitable pathways to develop digital skills. In giving apprentices the chance to earn a salary as they learn and gain work experience, we hope the result is a meaningful experience, a sense of community, and job readiness towards a career in tech.

When will applications open? Refer to our ‘Location’ page for tentative application start dates for our different locations. Please note, the timeline for each role can change year after year. To avoid potential disappointment, you can set up job alerts on to get notifications once the applications open. To create an alert, search for ‘apprenticeship’ under ‘Role’ and your preferred location(s), and click ‘Search.’ Then use the toggle at the top to ‘Turn on job alerts for your search.’ That way you won’t need to check the page regularly.

How do I apply? As soon as we begin accepting applications, please select the “apply” button on this page. Keep your eyes peeled on our page, and remember to review the list of required application materials. Applications will only be considered if all materials are included. For tips on resume writing, please visit our Virtual Career Fair or our “Applying to Google” article.

What documents do I need to submit as part of my application? You will need to submit the most updated version of your CV/resume and an accompanying cover letter outlining the reasons why you feel you would be a great fit for the program. There might be other requirements depending on the track you are interested in. Check the instructions on the role once applications are open.

Please note, we cannot consider your application for review if it’s missing any of the specified documents.

Can I check the status of my application once submitted? Once your application is submitted, our team will review your background and get back to you as soon as possible, regardless of the outcome. Unfortunately, we cannot provide status updates, so we ask that you keep an eye out for an email from our team.

How do I know if I am eligible for this apprenticeship? Apprenticeships are available to anyone over the age of 18 (except for Switzerland; check under ‘Location’ and ‘Switzerland’ to learn more) as long as they meet the minimum requirements posted on the job listing once applications become available.

Are international applicants eligible? International applicants are welcome to apply as long as they have work authorization for the country where they are applying, and meet all other minimum requirements listed in the job description. We ask each candidate to look into the requirements to work in the location they are applying for. They’ll also be responsible for securing a visa where one is required.

Are people with university degrees eligible to apply? We're happy to receive applications from candidates who already have a university degree, as long as it is in a different subject than that of the apprenticeship. Apprenticeships are great opportunities for individuals aiming to change careers so a previous degree or experience in another field shouldn’t be an issue as long as you meet the minimum requirements of the role.

What does the selection process look like? The selection process is different for each apprenticeship program but it generally includes a call with a recruiter to assess motivation and eligibility for the role, and a series of interviews (either virtual or in-person, known as an interview day or assessment center). The candidates will receive all the details for these sessions, including resources on how to prepare and what to expect.

How long is the apprenticeship program? Our apprenticeships can range in duration depending on the local setup and the profession but they are all full-time work-and-study opportunities while on the role. Check the ‘Location’ section for more details.

Do you offer degree apprenticeships? Depending on the country of the apprenticeship you’re interested in, the level of the program might vary. Check the ‘Location’ section of this page for more details.

Will apprenticeships be running remotely? At the moment, apprenticeships are created as an in-person opportunity. While some of our 2020 apprenticeships and our 2021 apprenticeships have been virtual because of the pandemic and government guidelines within the country, we’re closely monitoring the situation for 2022 before being able to confirm. All apprentices going through the application process will be informed of any updates by their recruiter.

Is this a paid opportunity? Yes, all apprenticeships at Google are paid opportunities and include some benefits and perks to support your learning and development while on the program.

What happens after the apprenticeship? Apprentices receive career coaching and holistic support in developing their professional skills throughout the program. This means apprentices typically start their search for a full-time job or further education while still in the program!

Will I have a full-time role at Google after completing the apprenticeship? The goal of the program is that this experience will enable you to secure a meaningful opportunity after completing your apprenticeship , whether you would like to pursue further education, additional development or apply for roles in the industry. While there is not a guaranteed role after the apprenticeship, you can apply to roles at Google depending on availability and your profile.

Will I be able to secure a full-time role at Google after completing the apprenticeship? Depending on availability and your profile, you can explore full-time roles within Google and apply or consider other opportunities like roles in industry or continuing your education. The goal of the program is that your new experience will be valuable when applying for roles in the industry and will enable you to secure a meaningful opportunity after completing your apprenticeship.

Will Google help with relocation? If eligible, candidates will receive a relocation bonus to support their moving plans. As this relates to the offer stage, we recommend that you discuss this with your recruiter once you’re in the process and they’ll have more details to share.

I have a disability. Will Google make accommodations for me when I interview? Our accommodations teams are dedicated to supporting people with disabilities so they can be successful in the interview process and at Google. Learn more about accommodations at
